“Progressive Wildness” at the OKC Philharmonic
Philippe Quint, violin Grammy nominee plays "the most expensive violin in the world"
(Oklahoma City, OK) Two-time Grammy Award nominee, violinist Philippe Quint joins the OKC Philharmonic and Joel Levine in his second appearance with the Orchestra. Quint plays "the most expensive violin in the world" as he performs the wild and bohemian Violin Concerto by Aram Khachaturian with the Philharmonic on Saturday, November 15, at 8pm at the OKC Civic Center.
“Progressive Wildness,” the title of the program, reflects the changing mood of the evening's program. This concert opens with Sergei Prokofiev's "Classical" Symphony No. 1, conducted by Maestro Levine. This restrained work is followed by Francesca da Rimini by Peter Tchaikovsky - music depicting the damnation and torment of two passionate but illicit lovers of long ago.
Philippe Quint, a "thinking man's virtuoso," according to the Orange County Register, has emerged in recent years as a soloist able to combine a remarkable degree of lyricism and poetry with impeccable virtuosity. Quint plays the magnificent 1708 "Ruby" Antonio Stradivarius violin on loan to him through the generous efforts of The Stradivari Society.
