Brightmusic’s Spring Chamber Music Festival 2016 - The Music of Vienna
On June 9-14, the Brightmusic Chamber Ensemble presents The Music of Vienna, its Fifth Annual Spring Chamber Music Festival at St. Paul’s Cathedral in downtown Oklahoma City.
The four-concert festival is a breathtaking sampler of the Viennese music scene spanning more than 250 years and featuring some of the best-loved chamber works of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms and Mahler, among many others.
Fifteen Brightmusic musicians will be appearing during the Festival: Dr. Gregory Lee, Violin; Katrin Stamatis, Violin; Suzanne Wagor, Violin; Dr. Jonathan Ruck, Cello; and Parthena Owens, Flute. Also, Lisa Harvey-Reed, Oboe; Dr. Dan Schwartz, Oboe; Chad Burrow, Clarinet; Tara Heitz, Clarinet; Rodney Ackmann, Bassoon; Larry Reed, Bassoon; Dr. Kate Pritchett, Horn; Dr. Peggy Moran, Horn; Dr. Amy I-Lin Cheng, Piano; and Dr. Sallie Pollack, Piano.
All concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. except for the Sunday concert, which is 4 p.m. A pass for all four concerts is available at the door or on our website at www.brightmusic.org/concerts for $50 each, (a savings of $30 over individual concert tickets of $20). Students and active-duty military personnel are admitted free with ID.
Also, any who would like to attend but feel they cannot due to financial hardship as a result of recent layoffs in the energy sector are invited to join us as guests of the musicians by simply advising the person at the front desk that they are guests of the musicians and no questions will be asked. More information about the festival is available on Brightmusic’s website at www.brightmusic.org.
Festival concerts will be performed at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 127 NW 7th St. in downtown OKC. Programs are subject to change.
Additionally, for the first time, Brightmusic will collaborate with the OK Mozart International Music Festival in presenting our respective June 2016 Festivals.
Brightmusic will perform two of the three works from our June 11 Festival concert as part of OK Mozart’s morning chamber music concert series in Bartlesville on Monday morning, June 13, and two of the three works from our June 12 Festival concert at OK Mozart on Tuesday morning, June 14.
This exciting collaboration reflects that Brightmusic is not only Oklahoma City’s own chamber music ensemble, but also Oklahoma’s own chamber music ensemble! For more information about this year’s OK Mozart Festival, visit www.okmozart.com.
