Condomania fashion show promotes safe sex
Designers’ imaginations will go wild using the non-traditional artistic medium of condoms. It’s the second-annual Condomania hosted by Tulsa’s The Little Blue House.
Condomania is a fashion show featuring original designs made from condoms in or out of the wrapper and it happens this Spring.
Guests will enjoy colorful and unique designs made solely, or with the addition of, contraceptives. They will also enjoy an evening of dancing, lip sync competition, light hors-d'oeuvres, a silent auction and a cash bar.
While some designers keep the prophylactics in the wrapper—most are using the condoms themselves for their creations. Designs range from warrior costumes to ball gowns. All designers are local and range from artists to college students.
The Little Blue House presents this safe-sex fashion show to promote the belief that sexual health is important. The event is April 6 to coincide with National STDs Education and Awareness Month.
The Little Blue House strives to uplift the voices of LGBTQQIA+ students, women, people of color, people of all socio-economic backgrounds and those with disabilities. They work to provide a safe place for students to discover and express their identities, creating a social and supportive environment.
Condomania doubles as a public-awareness event to tell our community that, sexual health is an important part of overall health and that sexual health should be discussed and promoted.
Our community should not be bullied into silence and shame around universal issues of sexuality and reproductive health.
Partner organizations in attendance and advising their resources include Planned Parenthood, Take Control Initiative and H.O.P.E. Testing.
H.O.P.E. Testing will provide free HIV/HCV testing until 8 p.m. the night of the event.
This fabulous fashion event will be held April 6 at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center at 7 p.m. Tickets are available via Eventbrite. General admission is $50; the Young Professional rate (under 30) is $30; Student Admission is $20. Sponsorships are available.
