The Mystery of Irma Vep
This play is a satirical take on all that is ridiculous in Gothic horror, Victorian melodrama and classic movies. At the opening of the show, we find Lord Edgar at Mandacrest Estate, grieving the mysterious passing of his first wife Irma Vep. Lord Edgar is joined by his new wife, Lady Enid. Spooky hilarity ensues as the cast aims to solve THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP.
Monte Riegel Wheeler (Lady Enid, et al) and Jeffrey Meek (Lord Edgar, et al) captivate the audience and are thoroughly convincing as a cast of many by their lightening fast clothing changes into and out of the plays various characters. As the play progresses this high energy duo lead the audience through the entire classic vampire, werewolf, ghost and mummy horror genre in this Charles Ludlam comedy.
This is a delightful way to spend an evening in this Halloween season and you will find yourself amazed and laughing out loud at the high energy comedic delivery of Wheeler and Meek.
Meek’s credits include PAGEANT (Miss Deep South) and GREATER TUNA. The actor also often appears as the hysterical Norma Jean Goldstein, host of Gospel Brunch at Oklahoma City’s popular restaurant The Boom.
Theatergoers may recognize Wheeler from his most recent role with Lyric, Mr. Harry MacAfee in BYE BYE BIRDIE. Some of his other theatre credits include THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW (Dr. Frank-N-Furter), OLIVER! (Mr. Sowerberry), and HAIRSPRAY.
