LITTLE ROCK – Today, Vincent Insalaco, chairman of the Democratic Party of Arkansas, released a statement about HB 1001.

This bill is "An act to make an appropriation for necessary expenses, pay expenses of members, pay salaries of employees, pay for supplies and equipment for the Arkansas House of Representatives of the 90th General Assembly for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016; and for other purposes."

Statement from Democratic Party of Arkansas:

"The Republican majority in the Arkansas House of Representatives have been given a chance to govern, and they are failing. Instead of immediately voting to secure the private health insurance of nearly 270,000 Arkansans, the first item on the agenda of House Republicans is legislative mileage payments and reimbursements. While tens of thousands of Arkansas's working families worry about the future of their health care, House Republicans paid their bank accounts. It is disgraceful.

"Arkansans deserve health care they can afford, and a legislature that makes every working family their top priority.  Arkansas Democrats will not settle for anything less. Call House Speaker Gillam at 501.729.0042 and demand that the House considers the health care of nearly 270,000 Arkansans first."
