After a successful first year, the Durant family is ramping up their efforts to make Christmas special for children around the Oklahoma City area by hosting a second annual Durant Family Christmas Toy Drive.

“I’m excited for an even bigger event this year,” Tony Durant, Kevin’s older brother and chairman of the toy drive, said. “We gave away around 2,000 toys last year, and I want to do even more this year.”

The giveaway will be held Dec. 22 at the Cox Pavilion at the State Fairgrounds. Durant says he hopes to serve 5,000 children.

The Durants need help from Oklahoma City to make the event a success, and ask that people come together to donate toys to be distributed. Gifts should average in price from $10-$20 and can be for children from birth to 16 years old. Pick-up points are located around the city, and a full list of partner locations and their hours can be found at www.DurantToyDrive.com.

Metro-area BancFirst locations and Hudiburg Auto Group dealership locations are open and accepting toys from the public. Saturday, Dec. 20, is the toy drop-off deadline.

“This is a really important cause for me and my family, and I hope people will get involved,” Durant said. “It’s all about the kids.”

The Durant family is excited to partner with People’s Church again this year, and by moving to the fairgrounds, Durant said he hopes more people will get involved and there will be a warm and entertaining place for children and their families to wait to receive their
gift.
