Elton’s new album Wonderful Crazy Night now available for pre-order

Sir Elton John has achieved 37 gold and 27 multi-platinum albums over a 5 decade career.

Prolific performing artist Elton John will release his 33rd studio album, Wonderful Crazy Night, worldwide on February 5, 2016.

The album was co-produced by Elton and T-Bone Burnett and reconvenes Elton’s core band of drummer Nigel Olsson, from his original three-piece group, and guitarist Davey Johnstone, with whom he first worked in 1971.

They are joined by bassist Matt Bissonette, keyboard player Kim Bullard and percussionist John Mahon. Five tracks feature another time-honored associate, percussionist Ray Cooper.

Wonderful Crazy Night also marks the continuation of Elton’s incredible, inexhaustible songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin. These outstanding and evocative new co-writes represent the latest fruits of a friendship that now dates back 48 years.

According to Dave Lifton, writing in UltimateClassicRock.com, it took John less than three weeks to make Wonderful Crazy Night.

John told UDiscoverMusic.com in an interview, “The new album is all one or two takes, and that's it. We did a song a day, wrote a song, finished it, did the backing vocals and then went onto the next track. So in 17 days we did 14 songs, ten of which ended up on the album.”

According to the website, “The singer-songwriter adds that the album's upbeat mood reflects his current state of mind. ‘ For me, it's a joyous record,’ he added. ‘It's like going back to the '70s, there's a lot of '70s-influenced things in there, but it's a record that's been made in 2015.’

“Asked about his expectations for Wonderful Crazy Night, he said simply: ‘That people like it. That's all I can hope for.’"
