Feast of Fabulous Wild Men Day

According to my Google search of holidays, January 12 is the “Feast of Fabulous Wild Men Day.” My, my…what does that even mean? However, it does sound like it may have been invented by some of our very own Gayly readers!
I did some digging around and my “best source” was gone-ta-pott.com (I know, I know - that’s my best source). Here’s what they had to say…
Origin of this Holiday: Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. It is possible this holiday may have been created by the greeting card industry because we find reference to it on greeting card sites.
Why January and Why the 12th day? We did not find any reference to why the month of January or why the 12th of the month was picked. This holiday is referred to as a "National" day- However, we did not find any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day. Even though we didn't, this is still a holiday that is publicized to celebrate.
We found recognition from calendar sites and personal Internet sites that blog and share information about this holiday. Some sites talk about dating and the best ways to ask a man out on a date. Others talk about the sexiest man they ever went out on a date with and who was the wildest date to name.
Where I equally enjoy “feasting” on fabulous men and women, I did not find a day where we celebrated equally the “Feast of Fabulous Wild Women Day.” Is this just another way in which women are disenfranchised, but will we complain about this “inequality?” <sic>
It appears as if no one really knows what the heck this holiday is or where it came from. When I mentioned it to one of my friends, she asked, “Do we feast over wild men, or what?” I told her my first thought was we were supposed to feast on wild men….clearly she is more pure and sweet than I am.
Whatever the case may be for “Feast of Fabulous Wild Men Day,” I intend to have fun with it. I sure hope you do too.
