First Friday on the Paseo is Friday, August 5
Oklahoma City, OK (July 27, 2016) – The Paseo Arts District’s First Friday Gallery Walk for August will take place on Friday, August 5, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Gallery Walk will have 20 galleries featuring over 80 artists who will host opening receptions, promising something for everyone.
The Paseo Art Space, at 3022 Paseo, will feature the opening reception for the first stop of “Tour de Quartz,” a selection of artwork created by Oklahoma high school students during the 2016 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain. Each student is represented by one piece of artwork in the Tour de Quartz, which is exhibited at some of the state’s finest institutions.
The Tour de Quartz is sponsored by SONIC, America's Drive In, with additional support for this show provided by the Paseo Arts Association. “We are excited to have the talented young artists from Tour de Quartz back again this year,” stated Amanda Bleakley, Executive Director.
Among the live entertainment for August is artist Grant Adams. Set to release his debut EP this fall, Adams fuses honesty and creativity together in his music. Influenced by the likes of John Mayer and Ben Rector, Grant writes songs that mean something to him. He hopes that by writing and playing live, his songs can impact people in a positive way and give them hope. Be on the look out for his album this fall.
Street cuisine offerings for August include Healthy Hippo which offers fresh, clean eating in the form of panini’s; Phill Me Up, authentic cheesesteak sandwiches; and Zebra Snow will help you beat the heat with an ice cold snow cone.
The Paseo is Oklahoma City’s unique arts destination, located between NW 27th & 30th Streets and Walker & Hudson.
