First LGBT Pride Festival planned in Logan
LOGAN, Utah (AP) — People in Logan are planning the city's first LGBT Pride Festival.
The Herald Journal of Logan reports (http://bit.ly/29DaXUB) the event is set for Oct. 8 and organizers hope to make it an annual celebration.
Festival coordinator Turner Bitton says he wants to make the event welcoming to people who haven't had much interaction with the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community, and also let LGBT people be themselves.
The festival is expected to be held on Church Street up to 100 East in Logan.
Bitton says he's hoping the event will help form bonds between LGBT people and the wider local community.
He says strong local bonds could help in prevent suicides among young LBGT people.
