Forecasters issue ice storm warning for Oklahoma, Arkansas
As of 8am CST, all counties in Oklahoma, most except extreme south Arkansas, and the southern 1/3 of Missouri are under storm warnings or advisories as a powerful storm system churns its way east.
An ice storm warning is in place until 6 p.m. Friday in the southeastern and south central parts of Oklahoma and a band across central Arkansas, where up to three-quarters of an inch of ice is possible.
In other areas of the three states, a half-foot of snow is possible with the storm system. A winter storm warning is in effect for the central and northeastern parts of Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City and Tulsa, almost all of Arkansas and south Missouri.
Light snow and sleet are predicted in northwestern Oklahoma.
Bitter cold is expected to accompany the storm.
Forecasters say the significant icing will make travel treacherous and power outages are expected.
