Fourth Democrat files to run for president in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A Florida retiree who is pushing for a rewrite of the U.S. Constitution has filed to run in the Democratic presidential primary in Arkansas next year.

James Valentine of Miami Beach filed paperwork at the state Capitol to seek the Democratic nomination in the state's March 1 primary. He's the fourth Democrat to file to run in the presidential primary next year.

Valentine, who is 58, said Arkansas is the first state where he's filed to run for president and said he's filing paperwork in other states. He said his campaign is centered on his proposal for a revised constitution.

Representatives of former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders filed paperwork earlier this week for Arkansas' Democratic primary.
