GBFDirector: Darren SteinUSA "Being out has never been so in." Attention OUT OK patrons, the season's must-have accessory has arrived, the Gay Best Friend! High school politics, teen-age angst, and blossoming gaybys coalesce into an outrageous romp of drama queen proportions. Director Darren Stein and screenwriter George Northy deliver a fresh take on today's high school antics complete with au-courant slang and sick threads. One day you're in, the next day, you're out. Fah-reals! When a hook-up app mishap outs the timid Tanner (Michael J. Willet, The United States of Tara) as Northgate High's first openly gay student, the detente between the school's trio of competing clique queens dissolves into homo-rific mayhem as each battles to secure their position as supreme prom-queen. Tanner's popularity skyrockets as the fiercesome threesome vie for his loyalty. Blond bombshell Fawcett (Sasha Pieterse, Pretty Little Liars), drama club drama queen Caprice (Xosha Roquemore, Precious), and salvation-sally 'Shley (Andrea Bowen, Desperate Housewives) scheme their way into homo-heaven. Meanwhile, closeted and flamboyant Brent (Paul Iacono, Hard Times of RJ Berger) exacts revenge on the frenemy who betrayed him, Tanner. With a fresh-faced cast of Hollywood up-and-comers plus a supporting cast of Hollywood veterans like Megan Mullally (Will and Grace), Natasha Lyonne (But I'm a Cheerleader), Jonathan Silverman (Weekend at Bernie's), GBF is a definitive hoot and a sublime reflection of the perverse politics of high school.
