SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Gov. Pat Quinn says the fight for same-sex marriage in Illinois is not over.
The House adjourned Friday without calling for a vote on the issue. Sponsor Democratic Rep. Greg Harris says he didn't have the votes and decided not to call it for a vote.
Quinn helped Illinois approve civil unions in 2011 and said legalizing gay marriage is a matter of equal rights and benefits for all citizens.
The Chicago Democrat says he'll keep fighting until marriage equality is the law.

The bill is SB10
