Iowa gay marriage decision marks 10 year anniversary
Ten years ago, Iowa became the third state to legalize gay marriage.
Rev. Rich Hendricks was a big part of the push.
"Having those rights are so important, so fundamental, those rights,” Hendricks said.
Although there have been challenges to the Iowa ruling, same sex partners are still able to marry a decade later.
"And once granted, it's not going to be taken away,” he said.
The Iowa Supreme Court decision cost three Iowa justices their jobs. All three lost re-election a year and a half later after those who oppose gay marriages wages statewide campaigns against them.
