LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The Pulaski County Quorum Court has approved an election to determine whether to levy a sales tax of 0.25 percent for improvements to the region's bus system.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1k2bkcF ) that Pulaski County voters will decide March 1 as they cast their ballots in the primary elections.

Rock Region Metro is seeking the revenue to increase the frequency of stops, bring free Wi-Fi on buses and add more buses, routes and shelters.

The proposal also eliminates North Little Rock riders' need to ride to Little Rock and back in order to get to other destinations in North Little Rock.

The changes would require a nearly $37 million budget, twice the agency's current budget. Annual revenue from the estimated tax is estimated at about $18 million.
