FLUSHED! Kansas bathroom bills die

From Equality Kansas

After several very late nights in the Statehouse, the Kansas Legislature adjourned for the year at 3:30 this morning, Monday, May 2. No action was taken on either of the two anti-trans youth "bathroom bills."

While Senate Bill 513 was killed a month ago, the identical House Bill 2737 could have potentially been brought up at any time and passed as an emergency measure. Thanks to the work of advocates and activists across our great state, Kansas trans and non-conforming youth are safe for another year from legalized persecution.

Remember, it's six months to Election Day! If you want to help Equality Kansas remove some bigots from office, let us know! We are working directly with a number of pro-equality candidates who are challenging some of the most notorious anti-LGBT legislators in the state and nation. Give us a call or an email, and we'll put you to work.

Meanwhile, if volunteering on political campaigns is not your thing, we are always grateful for your financial contribution to our work. Equality Kansas is 100% community funded, and your direct contribution helps keep us on the job. Visit http://eqks.org/contribute for information on how you can help!
