Dennis R. Neill Equality Center announces Mural Art Project

The Dennis R. Neill Equality Center and Oklahomans for Equality (OkEq) announce the 2017 Pride Mural project. The upcoming renovation and subsequent repainting scheduled for fall have offered up a unique opportunity to put our Pride out there for all to see this summer.

“April and May seem like a pretty good time to do the work,” say organizers. “Paintings should be done by May 28, so that all is all ready for Pride Month kick off on June 2 with the Rainbow Run.” Mural spaces are designated as 12 feet tall and 15 feet wide and face the existing parking lot.

Designs may be created by an individual or group.

“All materials will be supplied by the artist(s). OkEq is supplying only space, with no remuneration or compensation for the artwork.” Artists will gain exposure for all of Tulsa to see in the gateway to downtown.

If you are interested in this “once in a lifetime opportunity,” please send sketches of your idea to Jose.Vega@okeq.org by March 17. The chosen concepts will be announced on March 24 via e-mail and e-news.

Work may begin April 1. OkEq will provide scaffolding for the safety of the artists.

Voting for the People's Choice award will take place in person at the center May 29 through June 2 with a suggested donation of $1 for each vote. 70 percent of all proceeds will go to the winning artist or group. Results to be announced at Pride on June.
