“Younger” actor Dan Amboyer confirms he’s gay – marries longtime boyfriend
Dan Amboyer has had a strong career in TV, film, off-Broadway and regional theatre. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon’s School of Drama, he left for New York City, where he landed his first Off-Broadway show on his first day in town. His career has been up ever since.
Among his TV appearances, Amboyer played twins Chad and Thad on the TV Land show Younger, and had a recurring role on The Blacklist: Redemption.
He had always been quiet about his sexuality, despite having a long-time boyfriend. Saturday, that changed. Amboyer, 31 and Eric Berger, 37 got married Saturday.
And that fueled his desire to be more open about his life, according to People.
““Being a young actor in the industry, I had a lot of people who strongly advised me to stay quiet,” he told People. “That was hard to live with. But I’ve never played a gay role before and I didn’t want to be limited by some strange perception.”
“The couple met online a decade ago, and have been living together for nine years,” according to a NewNowNext.com report. “The wedding on Saturday at New York’s Marble Collegiate Church was filled with fellow performers: Tony winner Patina Miller (a classmate of Amboyer’s from Carnegie Melon), Paloma Guzman, (who appears with him in the upcoming Imposter), voice actor Tara Strong (his costar in A Very Merry Toy Store), Drag Race finalist Pearl Liaison, who DJed the party, and even Younger producer Darren Starr.”
“’I want to live my life moving forward with integrity and pride,’ Amboyer says of his decision to publicly celebrate his relationship for the first time. ‘We might start a family one day I would feel so strangely if I didn’t celebrate that with all of my family and friends and share that with the fans. This is just the beginning of a wonderful future’,” Amboyer said at the end of the People interview.
