Saturday at OKCPride 2013 features marriage equality rally, festival, more

OKCPride 2013 Saturday May 18 features events at the Myriad and Film Row.

Marriage equality rally and group commitment ceremony

OKCPride 2013 has an action packed Saturday in store. The day starts with “Love is Love,” a marriage equality rally at 11am, Saturday May 18, on the Grand Lawn of the Myriad Gardens, directly across the street from the Devon Tower. The rally will publicly recognize our couples in an effort to show Oklahoma that our LGBT families are stable, long-lasting and committed.

Following guest speakers, a mass commitment ceremony will be held for all those couples who wish to celebrate and proclaim their bond with one another in the beautiful park setting. Everyone is encouraged to attend and wear red in support of marriage equality. More info and couples registration at www.okcpride.org/love or join our event on Facebook at www.fb.com/okcpridefan.

Pride Festival on Film Row

The rally and ceremony kick off the 2013 Pride Festival, which will be held just two blocks away on historic Film Row. Ample free parking is available.

Film Row in Downtown OKC

OKC Pride has ventured into new territory in the heart of our growing city. The historic Film Row area, located just two blocks west of the Devon Tower & Myriad Gardens, offers visitors a glimpse into Oklahoma City’s past as well as its future.

Original Art Deco buildings line the new streetscape, which features wide sidewalks and impressive modern designs that highlight the area’s past as a regional film exchange. Until recently a forgotten slum, Film Row shines with new life in Oklahoma City’s downtown renaissance.

Hundreds of free parking spaces are available, and Film Row is easy to reach from anywhere in the city.

Festival Vendor Booths

The OKC Pride Festival is a great place for people to connect with our diverse range of exhibitors. Local organizations, businesses, churches, interest groups and food vendors provide visitors with a wealth of information and resources.

Entertainment & Arts

Besides all of the vendors and exhibitors, you’ll find live entertainers ranging from bands and solo artists to a myriad of performing arts.

OKC Pride is also committed to promoting creativity, expression and the arts. This year you’ll find artists who work with every imaginable medium, from clothing and jewelry to canvas and sculpture.

A Place for Everyone

There is a place for everyone at OKC Pride, whether young or old, gay or straight, single or families. We believe that having a safe, clean and family-friendly environment is the best way to bring people from all walks of life together and promote respect and understanding for those who are different.

This year’s festival will feature a large children’s area with crafts, games and fun attractions sponsored by local churches.

Enjoy the OKC Pride Festival!

Come out with your friends and make new ones as you show your Pride in Oklahoma City. There is something for everyone here, and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday, May 18!
