OKC’s The Painted Sky Opera announces third season
The Painted Sky Opera has announced their third season line-up for 2018-2019.
For 2018, Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi will be September 14, 16 & 21. You’ll want to secure your tickets now for this show which is Verdi’s famously dark tale of power and sacrifice tells the story of a cursed father’s efforts to protect his beloved daughter from the faithless but charming man whom she loves.
Touching on modern issues of privilege and influence, this fast-paced opera rings as true today as it did when it premiered more than 160 years ago.
Rigoletto features award-winning Oklahoma City tenor J. Warren Mitchell as the Duke.
October 19 OKC will enjoy The Painted Sky Opera Black and White Ball from 6-10 p.m. on the Fourteenth Floor of the Skirvin Hotel. Support the opera and enjoy dinner, drinks, dancing and more. Black and white attire encouraged, and masks are optional.
These great events will be followed by The Bel Canto Trio with OCCC on November 29. The holiday performance of Amahl and the Night Visitors by Gian-Carlo Menotti will be December 14 & 15.
Making our way into 2019 is Trouble in Tahiti by Leonard Bernstein on January 25, 26 & 27. On May 17 & 19, get ready for La Tragedie de Carmen by Georges Bizet, re-imagined by Peter Brook.
