Late night reacts to the release of the Mueller report

The Mueller report is finally out and late night hosts such as Jimmy Kimmel had a field day with it — or at least the non-redacted portions of it.

"Say what you will about this president, he has Americans reading again," Kimmel said on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Thursday night.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's 448-page partially-redacted report based on his nearly two-year-long investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election was released for the first time to the American public on Thursday.

Kimmel said that the most "explosive part" of the report was when the president said that the appointment of Mueller would be the end of his presidency and that he was "f***ed."

"Of course, he was wrong. It wasn't the end of his presidency and it's us that are effed," Kimmel said. "[Trump] also said 'this is the worst thing that ever happened to me,' and I assume that includes Donald Jr. being born."

As for the report's multiple redactions, NBC's Late Night host Seth Meyers joked, "Well, it's official, the Mueller report is out... and so is the printer."

Meyers broke down the report in a 15-minute-long "Closer Look" segment. "They've been saying the Mueller report was about to come out forever," Meyers said. "In fact, true story, when they found those 20,000-year-old cave paintings in France, one of them just said, 'Is Mueller wrapping up?'" Meyers also lambasted Attorney General William Barr's press conference that took place before the report's release.

"My god, halfway through that press conference I started expecting Barr to rip off his mask and reveal it was Trump the whole time," the host joked.

Meyers also made fun of the fact that the report was given to congress on CD-ROM asking, "Was it a report or did they just send Congress a mix tape?"

Stephen Colbert joined in with the rest of late night TV with jokes about the report on Thursday's Late Show.

"Until this morning, no one knew what was in this thing," Colbert said holding a print out of the report. "Congress hadn't read it and evidently Bill Barr hadn't read it either because there's some insane s*** in here."

Colbert also mentioned that it wasn't fair that Barr was getting criticized for his press conference with some in the media saying he acted almost like Trump's lawyer.

"OK, that's not fair," Colbert said. "If Bill Barr were the President's lawyer, he'd be in prison right now."
