St. Jerome’s teaches: It’s not about judgment

(Tulsa, OK) In the documentary For the Bible Tells Me So, a thesis of the film is that much of the church's homophobia represents a misreading of scripture, a denial of science, and an embrace of quack psychology. The film calls for love, acceptance, and inclusion.

St. Jerome Parish of Tulsa invites all to come together for “The Bible, Homosexuality, and Catholicism,” an event where people may experience real stories from others who have wrestled with family, faith, ministry and relationships complicated by issues of sexual orientation; stories of doubt, pain, healing and acceptance told in a forum that is respectful and open to all.

The documentary film For the Bible Tells Me So will also be shown.

The event will be Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 10am-2:30pm at St. Jerome Parish of the Ecumenical Catholic Communion, located at 205 W. King, Tulsa, OK 74106.

An examination of Roman Catholic teaching will be reviewed, with a compassionate alternative perspective presented.
