A world premiere play, “Alcoholidays,” makes its debut this November at The Boom in Oklahoma City. This irreverent comedy follows a married couple, Meg and Jacob, through a series of outlandish, dysfunctional holiday parties that would drive even Saint Nicholas to drink.

“Alcoholidays” follows Meg and Jacob as they make their way through the usual list of obligatory holiday parties. From co-workers, to families, to old friends, their only goal is to make the most of every difficult situation. But when forced into corners to discuss physical ailments and family drama, there’s only one thing to do: drink! With Christmas sweaters and holiday spirits, these parties go from unbearable to unforgettable in one guzzle.

This new play is written by married couple writing team and native Oklahomans Ted Satterfield and Melanie Wilderman. Wilderman is an assistant professor of journalism at the University of Oklahoma, and is the winner of the 2013 Best Short Screenplay award at the deadCENTER Film Festival. Satterfield won the same screenwriting award at deadCENTER in 2012, and two screenwriting awards at the Bare Bones Film Festival. This is both Melanie and Ted’s first play and their first time to collaborate on a writing project. The play is presented by Next Stage.

The cast of “Alcoholidays features Holly McNatt, Joshua McGowen, Elizabeth Ann Brooks, Mike Waugh, Mariah Webb, Brett Young, Todd Clark, and Rebecca McCauley. The show is directed by Rodney Brazil.
