Norman church to host Kansas transgender leader tonight
(Norman, OK) The United Church of Norman-UCC will host Stephanie Mott on Sunday, October 12 at 7pm. Ms. Mott, a transsexual woman from Topeka, KS is the first in a series of speakers focusing on equality issues.
Mott is the founder and executive director of the Kansas Statewide Transgender Education Project (KSTEP), and has provided transgender educational presentations and workshops more than 250 times. She also writes a monthly column on being transgender that is published in The Liberty Press and lgbtSr.org, and is a volunteer blogger for Huffington Post.
She is also the president of Capital City NOW, a commissioner on the City of Topeka Human Relations Commission, and community liaison for transgender inmates with the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.
Recently, Stephanie has been on her "Transgender Faith Tour" where she has been visiting faith institutions and sharing her journey of faith; how she spent many years feeling isolated from God and the life-changing discovery that she could have a relationship with God and be true to her authentic self.
