Same-sex marriage will be illegal in AZ
...depending SCOTUS decision
PHOENIX (AP) — Three U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) decisions expected soon will affect Arizona in major ways.
On the top of the list is a case brought by the Republican-controlled state Legislature challenging the constitutionality of the congressional district maps drawn by the state's independent redistricting commission. If the Legislature prevails in a case that could be decided as early as Thursday, lawmakers say they will redraw the maps in ways more favorable to the GOP.
The second case involves tax subsidies for people who buy health insurance through federally run exchanges. If the high court rules subsidies can only be offered through state exchanges, more than 126,000 Arizonans would lose subsidies.
The court is also considering legalizing gay marriage nationwide. If they decline to do so, gay marriage could again become illegal here.
