Brightmusic presents Dvorak, Schumann & Schoenfield
On Tuesday, November 10, piano and strings take the spotlight as Oklahoma City’s Brightmusic Chamber Ensemble presents its second concert of its 2015-16 season, Dvorak, Schumann and Schoenfield.
The concert will feature one of Robert Schumann’s best-loved works for piano quartet and a piano quintet of Antonin Dvorak that is acknowledged as one of the masterpieces in the form.
The works on the program include: 1) Schumann’s Piano Quartet in E-flat major, Op. 47, for piano, violin, viola and cello; 2) Dvorak’s Piano Quintet No. 2 in A major, Op. 81, for piano, two violins, viola and cello; and 3) Schoenfield’s Carolina Reveille for piano, violin, viola and cello, based on the 1922 Broadway hit, Carolina in the Morning.
Brightmusic musicians performing are: Gregory Lee and Katrin Stamatis (violin), Mark Neumann (viola), Jonathan Ruck (cello), and Amy I-Lin Cheng (piano).

Robert Schumann, Piano Quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 47, for Piano, Violin, Viola and Cello; Schumann was a 19th century German romantic composer.
Antonin Dvorak, Piano Quintet No. 2 in A Major, Op. 81, for Piano, two Violins, Viola and Cello; Dvorak was a 19th century Czech romantic composer.
Paul Schoenfield, Carolina Reveille for Piano, Violin, Viola and Cello, based on the 1922 Broadway song Carolina in the Morning; Schoenfield is a contemporary American composer.

Dr. Mark Neumann, Viola: Associate Professor of Music (viola), University of Oklahoma; violist with the OKC Philharmonic Orchestra.
Dr. Jonathan Ruck, Cello: Associate Professor of Music (cello), University of Oklahoma; Principal Cellist with the OKC Philharmonic Orchestra.
Dr. Amy I-Lin Cheng, Piano: Concert pianist; Lecturer of Piano at the University of Michigan. Amy is the pianist in the clarinet-piano ensemble of Duo Clarion and the violin-clarinet-piano ensemble, Trio Solari.
The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 127 NW 7th Street (at Robinson). Individual concert admission is $20 per ticket.
