OKC Pride plans inaugural Valentine's event

OKC Pride wants to represent the entire LGBTQ community.

As promised in their last board meeting, OKC Pride is moving forward with plans to offer outreach and education to the community.

On Thursday, February 11, OKC Pride will be hosting a Valentine’s Day banquet to honor the transgender community of Oklahoma. The event is free to attend.

“We are working to make this a truly special event for a community that is too often overlooked or made to feel ostracized,” say organizers, asking people to reach out to transgender individuals and invite to this event for a safe, fun evening during Valentine's week.

“OKC Pride is working diligently to reach out and build a healthy Transgender Community,” said Sara Cunningham, one of the event organizers. “It could save a life.”

The OKC Pride Valentine’s banquet will be held at The Caliber on Automobile Alley from 7 to 10 p.m., Thursday, February 11, and will feature food, entertainment, guest speakers, door prizes, and drinks.

“Everyone deserves a seat at the table,” concluded Cunningham.

“OKC Pride wants to represent the entire LGBTQ community. Each of those letters is equally important.  This inaugural event is our outreach to the trans community, upcoming events will be focused on outreach to LGBT youth,” said Michael Clark. “After pride we will focus on events related to bisexual awareness week, transgender awareness month and ally events.”
