OKC lesbian couple kiss on Thunder Kiss Cam, shocking audience

(Oklahoma City) - Local bartender Chelbie Craig and her girlfriend Rachel McCoy kissed on the OKC Thunder's Kiss Cam last night, stirring a shocked gasp from the crowd of onlookers.

The camera cut to a seemingly heterosexual couple, not expecting Craig and McCoy to be the only couple present in the camera's shot. The momentary turn toward Craig's male friend is a huge part of the surprise that set off the stunning response.

Attendees jumped from their seats.

"It was a mix of shocked and cheering," Craig told The Gayly. "The crowd was loud and the cheering seemed surprisingly positive."

But an open expression of love is not uncommon for this OKC couple.

"I think love is love and all forms of it should be expressed openly. We express our love for each other the same as any straight couple," Craig says. "We've never hidden it and are proud that it was shown to a large audience no matter how it was - Kiss Cam, or any other way. Love needs to be shown in all of its forms.

"It's hard not to show something that makes you so happy."
