OKC Pride Alliance to produce OKC Pride 2019
Okla. City -- OKC Pride Alliance, a 501c3 organization, formed by members of the Pride Advisory Council with the help of Nonprofit Solutions Law Firm, will produce and market the Oklahoma City Pride celebration for 2019.
Former 39th St. District Director, Lauren Zuniga, will head up the operation as the Event Director and President of OKC Pride Alliance board.
“Having a 501c3 status helps expand our fundraising capacity, and Nonprofit Solutions specializes in nonprofit law, so we will have the legal framework and infrastructure to sustain and expand Pride in the future,” said Zuniga.
Alex Bliss, attorney for Nonprofit Solutions and a member of the LGBTQ community, said, “When I saw what was going on with the former organization, I just knew I had to reach out. Pride is very important to my wife, and the firm allows me one pro-bono case per year, so I said, this is it.”
“In the next ten years, we believe Oklahoma City Pride can become one of the premiere Pride celebrations in the nation,” Zuniga said, “We believe that Oklahoma City deserves an inclusive, collaborative Pride organization that acts as a connector and capacity builder for our LGBTQ+ community.”
Oklahoma City Pride will include the Pride on 39th Parade and Festival on Saturday, June 22. It will also include film screenings, block parties and events outside of the 39th St. District throughout June.
