OKC Pride sets dates for 2016

OKC Pride 2015 has come to a close. Again, thanks to everyone for making this the biggest and best OKC Pride ever. We could not have done it without our sponsors, donors, board members and great volunteers. Now it’s time for us to begin working on making OKC Pride 2016 even bigger.

The dates have been set for next year and the work has already begun. OKC Pride 2016 will be held the fourth week of June, beginning June 20 and culminating in a huge Concert and Block Party on Friday, June 24, two-day Pride Festival June 25-26 and the largest Parade ever in the state of Oklahoma on Sunday, June 26, 2016 – the one-year anniversary of the ground-breaking Supreme Court decision on Marriage Equality.

Now is the time to get involved to help OKC Pride lead Oklahoma City on its march to equality. We need great volunteers for the following duties: marketing, social media, website, recruiting, scheduling, produce and assist entertainers on all three days of the Pride Festival weekend, help enlist vendors, artists, food trucks, build and staff our float for the Halloween, MLK, St Patrick’s and 4th of July parades, contact potential sponsors, donors and advertisers for all Pride events throughout the year, and outreach to other organizations and individuals across the community to ensure we include everyone.

We need students, teachers, business people, laborers, networkers, entertainers, artists, marketers, activists, supporters, parents, children and anyone who supports equality and wants to help OKC Pride reach out to the entire state of Oklahoma. We need you!

We have won the fight for same-sex marriage, or as it is now and will forever forward be called, “marriage.” We celebrate this landmark victory in the march toward equal rights in this nation. But there’s more….
