Oklahoma lawmakers are playing a dangerous game with women's health care.

This week SB 1552, a blatantly unconstitutional bill fueled solely by lawmakers' political agendas, will be heard by the House Public Health committee. This bill would revoke the license of any doctor who performs an abortion for any reason. Even a doctor who has performed an abortion out of state and/or is coming to Oklahoma to practice in areas other than abortion care could be denied a license.

SB 1552 would have dangerous consequences for the entire health care community.

  • This bill would revoke the medical license of any physician who has performed an abortion for any reason at all – even for severe maternal health risk or fetal anomaly.
  • This bill would leave individuals and families who are already facing a shortage of affordable health care providers with fewer options.
  • This bill would end access to safe, legal abortion in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma State Medical Association has spoken out against this bill, calling it "another attempt to scare and intimidate physicians using political means."

Planned Parenthood is asking you to: Please take a minute to send a message to House Public Health committee members.

"Enough is enough," said a Planned Parenthood spokesperson. "Lawmakers must stop focusing on blocking access to abortion and start making policy that improves the lives of Oklahomans through access to high-quality, affordable health care!"
