Staff report

Oklahoma City will be host to the 23rd Annual OKClassic Bowling Tournament the weekend of April 26-28. In the past, over 150 bowlers from all over the United States have participated in this annual event.

OKClassic is a proud member of the International Gay Bowling Organization. IGBO is the world’s largest GLBT sports association with over 170 member leagues and more than 60 tournaments. The local organization has hosted one of IGBO’s largest and most-respected tournaments for 22 years and has donated over $100,000 to local charities in the process. In addition, Oklahoma City has hosted three of IGBO’s bi-annual international tournaments and conventions.

There are two IGBO-affiliated bowling leagues in Oklahoma City. The Sunday Twisters bowl on Sunday afternoons and start in late August. The Tuesday Twisters bowl on Tuesday evenings and start in early September.

On April 6, the OKClassic Fundraising Committee will host a progressive dinner and poker run. The event will begin at 6:00pm at Phoenix Rising with hors d’oeuvres, then to Tramps at 7:00 for Soup and Salad and ending at the Ledo/COPA at 8:00 for entrée and dessert. Tickets are $10 for the entire meal and are available at each participating venue. Come join the fun and win some poker money!

The OKClassic tournament will be at Heritage Lanes at 122nd & Penn. The doubles and singles bowling events will be held on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 10:00am. The team event will be held on Sunday, April 28 beginning at 10:00am. The Scratch Masters event will follow the team event. This is an exciting head-to-head individual competition of the weekend’s best bowlers.

The weekend will wrap up with the awards ceremony at The Copa on Sunday evening. All bowlers will enjoy a buffet of hors d’oeuvres, spirits, and the presentation of trophies.

Please extend a hearty Oklahoma welcome to our guests as they visit our city for this special event!
