Oklahoma governor declares state of emergency after storms

Oklahoma City (AP) — Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has declared a state of emergency in all 77 counties following a winter storm that dumped ice, freezing rain and rains that led to flooding in the state.

Fallin's declaration issued Sunday afternoon allows state agencies to make emergency purchases related to disaster relief and preparedness and is the first step toward possible asking for federal assistance. The declaration also allows oversized vehicles, such as those transporting utility poles, to affected areas.

Under the executive order, the state of emergency lasts for 30 days.
