With the closing of Our Fantasy Complex, Wichita lost a timeless tradition for the LGBT community. It was also the prime venue for the Miss Gay Wichita Pageant. After many conversations with various venues, Miss Gay Wichita owners, Charles and Derick Gonzales, were approached with a new possibility.

The new opportunity that presented itself comes in the form of a new venue, Club Boomerang. The club will be opening in mid-May. It is located at 1400 E. First Street in Wichita. The owners, Brad Thomison and Joshua Pfister, have a vison for their new venture: to provide a fun and exciting place where everyone feels welcome.

When asked what made him think of Miss Gay Wichita as the first major event, aside from the grand opening, Thomison said, “We wanted to make sure that this great event had a new place to call ‘home’. Not only is it a great chance to bring our community together, it highlights our efforts to bring together people from all walks of life to have fun and make new friends in a safe and exciting environment.” Club Boomerang will be an entertainment bar with shows on Thursdays and Sundays and go-go dancers on Fridays and Saturdays. The club will also have a full menu of food.

The Miss Gay Wichita Pageant will be held at Club Boomerang on Saturday, May 30 at 9 pm. The Gonzaleses, Mr. Thomison, and Mr. Pfister invite everyone to join them as the current reigning Miss Gay Wichita, Ginger Rose, steps down and a new queen is crowned for 2015.

For more information on how to enter the contest or general questions please feel free to contact the pageant owners on Facebook, Charles-Derick Gonzales, or email them at missgaywichita@gmail.com.
