A “proud member of the LGBTQ community,” Nevada state senator Pat Spearman spoke at the Democratic National Convention today.

"Today," she said, "marriage equality is nationwide, making great progress in the United States." She continued saying that Donald Trump is against marriage equality.

“Donald Trump says that anyone can use any bathroom in the Trump tower, but he still supports heinous [anti-trans] bills…”

His worst move, she said, was “picking Pence as his running mate.” She claims, “Pence uses religion as a weapon to discriminate."

She cited his discriminatory tactics, including the religious freedom bill.

“As a lesbian, that hurts me. As a person of faith, that offends me. And as a legislator working hard to create jobs, that baffles me. Trump and Pence want to strip away the progress we have fought so hard to win."

Why? They “fear” us, she said.

“She [Hillary Clinton] will make it illegal to discriminate on basis of who you love, who you are, wherever you live whoever you work for.”

“This election wont be easy, but I know we are ready and in words of an old negro spiritual, let's walk together, Democrats, don’t get weary; let's work together, Democrats, don’t get weary; let’s talk together, Democrats, don’t get weary.”
