Sharing never felt so good [for the Sooners, that is]. The Oklahoma Sooners beat Texas Christian 24-27 on Saturday in Fort Worth to finish off an impressive run of eight-straight consecutive conference wins and earn a piece of the Big 12 Championship.
Because Kansas State handled Texas 42-24 later that night, the Wildcats finished the season with an identical 8-1 record with the Sooners in the Big 12 Conference.
The head-to-head win Kansas State owns over Oklahoma gave it the automatic BCS berth to the Fiesta Bowl but not an outright title.
The Sooners’ BCS Bowl chances greatly improved with the win, and the team can expect a likely nod for the Sugar Bowl. It would take a team from a non-qualifying conference to be ranked 16th or better to move ahead of OU. Northern Illinois, currently 21st in the BCS standings, earned a slim chance with a win Friday over Kent State in the MAC championship but would have to jump through several rankings to edge out the Sooners.
The BCS selection show is 7:30 p.m. today on ESPN.
