Well, they pulled it off. Last evening, a beautiful June evening, the OKC Pride team entertained thousands of fans, supporters and lovers of equality when they brought both the iconic Martha Wash and Taylor Dayne to the “OKC strip” to perform for OKC Pride 2014.
Martha is riding a wave of success with the release of her 2013 album, Something Good, which has gained critical acclaim and has been well received by her fans. Following her appearance at OKC Pride 2014, she is heading to Toronto, Canada, to perform at World Pride.
Martha said that while she is known mostly for creating dance hits, she wanted her newest album to take a different approach.
Telling the OKC crowd how much she loved them, performing some fabulous iconic hits, culminating her show with the most incredible hit that solidified her “Original Weather Girl" career, It’s Raining Men.
Dayne, no stranger to Pride events having just left Long Island Pride (her home town) and leaving OKC Pride to perform at Augusta GA Pride, began her show also telling the crowd how much love she has for each and every one and calling each of us her family. It was moving.
Then she began a star-studded show in a killer outfit that rocked that fifty-some year old bod. Youngsters have nothing on this lady. And that’s what she is – a lady; a beautiful, talented lady.
Dayne sang songs from yesteryear with a voice that hasn’t changed. The years have been good to her voice and her appearance. She also sang some fabulous songs from her new upcoming album. She hasn’t lost it folks. She closed her show with her two most fabulous hits from the 80's, Tell It to My Heart and Love Will Lead You Back.
Emcee’s for the evening were OKC icons, the fabulous Ms. Norma Jean Goldensein with the sensational Kitty Bob Aimes.
